The Hudson Valley Wedding Photographers
Victoria and Allan Levine
Welcome to our blog. Have a look at some of our Real Hudson Valley Weddings.
Somewhere along the way, weddings became associated with high stress, extraordinary expense and undue amounts of pressure on the bride and groom – but why let that be the norm for your big day? There are plenty of ways to loosen things up, and one of the best places to start is with your wedding photos. Posing with family and friends in a playful, fun way can relieve the stress and let you actually enjoy your wedding day. Our wedding photography packages give you plenty of flexibility, so here are a few ideas for personalizing your wedding pictures while allowing the personality and humor of those you love set the tone for a fun and fruitful future together as a new couple.
Shape the Day
Group photos are notoriously similar, with everyone huddled in a group and saying "cheese" to the camera. You do want those images – but how about mixing it up a bit by having all your loved ones surrounding you in one huge creative photo? Have someone draw an enormous heart on the floor with a piece of chalk, and the bride and groom standing in the middle. Then have all your family and close friends stand on the chalk line, creating a human heart that encircles you in their love and support. The photographer can capture the moment from above, with everyone cheering, waving, fist pumping or blowing kisses.
The little ones in your wedding party can create the most lighthearted and spontaneous moments, so plan a few casual images with the bride and the groom. Laughing flower girls hiding beneath the folds of lace and satin in the wedding dress can lead to hilarious wedding photographs, especially if they pop their heads out from under the dress on cue. Likewise, the groom can pose with the ring bearer, both wearing dark sunglasses and striking a mobster pose.
The wedding "getaway car" can be a very creative prop for bridal party images. Be a bit irreverent by letting bridesmaids spread across the hood, groomsmen hang out the windows, and a couple mock-smooching in the back seat. Another option for a vehicle image is to use a battered but colorful old truck from the 1950s or earlier.
Prop It Up
Props are a "must have" for funny wedding photos - so just go all-out with it. Have the groomsmen and male family members pose with hot pink socks and beer bottles, or twirl umbrellas and prance to "Singing in the Rain." Stage an image of the bride in her dress, holding a football, surrounded by the groomsmen in various football player positions. Make the message quite clear: SHE is now the quarterback in this new "team." Another classic fun photo is of the bridesmaids in pajamas and hair curlers, jumping on the bed before getting all dressed up for the ceremony.
Dancing and Posed Improprieties
There's no better time to get fun wedding photos than the reception dancing. Teach little ones, parents and grandparents how to do the foxtrot, jitterbug and "the chicken." Get the ceremony minister to dance a little jig waving his Bible, Torah or other religious book. Have some straw hats ready and get photos of some good old-fashioned square dancing. Pose granny spiking the punch with a big whiskey bottle, or your favorite aunts stealing the wedding gifts.
Finally, remember that fun doesn't always have to be wacky and wild -- it can also be as simple as showing how much you enjoy being with those who surround you on your special day. Hug each other, sit on the floor and laugh, or just show a huge collective "whew" with your loved ones at the end of the day that's changed your life forever. When you have a professional wedding photographer like Allan E Levine, you won’t have to worry about a thing!
We had a blast working with Daniella & Daniel! They had lots of energy and spirit despite the cold New York weather. If you ask Allan the cold weather was perfect as it allowed for the beautiful snow. He didn't even mind laying down on it to get that perfect shot.
Daniella & Dan chose Garrison Landing in Garrison, NY as their location for their Engagement Portrait Session. Despite working in the Hudson Valley for over 8 years this was our first time there. We always love when people show us new & exciting places to take photos of our couples. Daniel grew up in Garrison & the couple spends most of their summer weekends there relaxing on the family boat. Enjoy looking at their winter wonderland engagement pictures…
Kim & Mark had perfect weather for their gorgeous May Hudson Valley Wedding. The Ceremony was held at St. Mary's Church - Newburgh, NY (located between South Street and Gidney Ave in Newburgh, New York).
